Our trip

The photo at the top of the blog is one I took the last time we went to Oaxaca, way back in June, 2012. We've been to Mexico since then, for my 60th birthday in 2018 (mainly to be out of the country on mid-term election day, which turned out ok after all); for that trip, we went to Cuernavaca, Tepoztlan, and Mexico City. Like our 2012 trip, this time we're returning to Oaxaca, but we're heading to a new spot on the Pacific Coast, and then to some small towns west of Mexico City. As we did in Guatemala earlier this year, we'll be on a textiles hunt.

This trip replaces the one we had to cancel; Marc had planned us a three-week trip to SEAsia, the places we love so much, but they were covid hot spots and some wouldn't allow us in. It's both easy and hard to feel like this trip is a consolation prize; the disappointment of again losing a trip to SEAsia is tough, but Mexico is so vibrant and beautiful, the people are beautiful, and tacos al pastor and tortas, come to mama.

As always in our travel blogs, the itinerary is on the info page, and a list of our travel blogs is on the tab above, "All our travels." I've gotten out of the habit of actually writing the posts, leaving the blog to be simply a spot to organize all the information we'll need, but this time I'm rededicating myself to daily writing. Only 24 days until we leave, and I'm hoping hoping hoping hoping that my front implant crown is done by then so I can bite into all the delicious food I'm daydreaming about.
